'Makorori Dawn / Whitewashed Palm Husk on Wire

Contemporary visual artist Michelle Haynes of Untamed is the creator behind our organic wall sculptures.

Michelle resides at Wainui Beach on Gisborne’s East Coast. Inspired by the beauty and imperfections of the natural coastline, she is drawn to bring this connection into the home in a simple and uncomplicated way to evoke the feelings of peace and tranquillity found in nature.

Michelle creates wall sculptures and hangings from discarded palm inflorescence, bark, foliage’s, seed pods and husks. These are woven with other raw and natural materials. Hand rolled clay beads are often used in her sculptural work to add a contemporary, rustic feel bringing tone and texture variations to her pieces.
